“Wildfire”

Ashville Fire Units were dispatched @11:53 hrs to a reported Brush Fire along Ronan Drive in Gallitzin Twp.,
Engine and Rescue 60 responded. Firefighters arrived to a fast moving field fire endangering a residence.
60 Assistant (Racz) assumed Command, assigning 60 Captain (Malloy) to operations.
Engine 60 began suppressing the fire as Rescue 60 positioned to protect the home.
Command requested Brush and UTV units from Gallitzin (71), Patton (62) and a short time later tankers and manpower from Keystone (77) and Loretto (73) Fire companies.
A staging area was established at Saint Thomas Aquinas Church on Hickory St. to coordinate resources under direction of Chief McGonigle (77).
Companies worked nearly two hours to extinguish and overhaul the area.

Shoutout to the Excelsior Fire Company of Bellwood for sending an engine and crew to cover District 60 during today’s event.
